Leadership

Jeffrey H. Greiner
President and Chief Executive Officer

A lawyer by training and an Air Force Academy graduate, Jeff Greiner has been the operational leader of Advanced Bionics® from its beginning.

He served a commitment to the Air Force as part of the Judge Advocate General’s Department. He left the Air Force in 1986 and became the Associate General Counsel for Siemens-Pacesetter and the Acting General Counsel for MiniMed Technologies, Limited, the predecessor entity which produced both MiniMed, Inc. and Advanced Bionics Corporation.

In 1992, Mr. Greiner left Siemens-Pacesetter to lead and build AB into a leading neurological device company. He has grown the company from seven employees in 1992 to over 600 employees in 2009 with an emphasis on leadership and the creation of an innovative and spirited culture, where creativity and discipline are the keys to producing exceptional technology that improves lives.

He holds a B.S. degree in Economics with highest honors from the United States Air Force Academy (1974), a JD degree from UCLA (1977), and an LLM with highest honors from George Washington University (1985).

History

Intrigued by the notion of "helping deaf people hear," Alfred E. Mann founded Advanced Bionics in 1993 and asked Jeff Greiner to lead the fledgling organization of seven engineers and scientists. Since then, Al Mann and Jeff Greiner have worked together to develop state-of-the-art medical technology that improves lives. The seven-person organization they founded has grown to over 600 employees worldwide.

In March 1996, the company received approval from the FDA to market the Clarion® cochlear implant for use in post-lingually deafened adults, and in 1997, received approval to market its cochlear implants for use in children.

Today, AB continues to make industry-leading technological advances with the Harmony® HiResolution® Bionic Ear System (Harmony®). Introduced in 2006, Harmony is the world’s most sophisticated cochlear implant system, using cutting-edge technology to deliver the best possible hearing experience. The Harmony Advantage, only from AB, lets you hear your best everywhere, every time.

Partnered with Phonak under the Sonova Group in 2009, AB remains committed to providing recipients with the most reliable, best performing cochlear implant system in the world.
