Compatibility Information

Naída CI Connect is compatible with the Naída CI Q90 sound processor and with the PowerCel 170 battery.

Naída CI Connect is compatible with Bluetooth® 4.2 wireless technology and most older Bluetooth phones. The table below identifies compatibility with commonly used devices.

General Bluetooth Information

How do I know if my Naída CI Connect is paired to my mobile phone?

Once Naída CI Connect is paired to the phone, a connection beep will be heard, signalling that the pairing has been successful.

You will also see the connection status within the Bluetooth menu of your phone.

Can I stream media (audio books, videos, music) from my mobile device?

Yes. Naída CI Connect uses Bluetooth Classic, the Hands Free Profile (HFP), and the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), which supports streaming from these media sources.
 

How do I pair a second Bluetooth device to Naída CI Connect?

Only one device can be paired to Naída CI Connect at a time. To add another device you will have to remove the already-paired device.
 

How do I switch between one Bluetooth device paired to my Naída CI Connect to the other?

You can pair one Bluetooth device (e.g., smartphone) with your Naída CI Connect at a time. Follow these steps to successfully switch between two Bluetooth devices: 

  1. Click ”Forget devices” on the device that is currently paired.
  2. Ensure that Bluetooth wireless technology is enabled on the device that you are going to pair to. Search for Bluetooth-enabled devices in the connectivity menu.
  3. Remove and attach Naída CI Connect to the PowerCel 170 battery.
  4. Naída CI Connect will be now in the pairing mode for 3 minutes. Your Bluetooth device will show a list of found Bluetooth devices. Select Naída CI Connect from the list.
     

How close does my mobile phone need to be to Naída CI Connect?

Although the official Bluetooth standard indicates a maximal range of 10m/30ft, the actual range depends on many factors and may be shorter, so the phone should be within 5 meters/16 feet of your Naída CI Connect. For phone calls, Naída CI Connect uses built-in directional microphones to pick up your voice, so you do not need to speak directly into the phone during a call.
 

How do I change the volume of a phone call with Naída CI Connect?

There are 2 ways to change the volume of a phone call:

  1. Using the volume buttons on your mobile phone.
  2. Using the volume control button on the Naída CI Q90 sound processor.

Will my Naída CI Connect pair to the Bluetooth in my car?

No. Most in-car Bluetooth systems pair with input devices, such as your phone. Naída CI Connect is an output device.
 

Does Naída CI Connect support the Dual Audio option in some Bluetooth-enabled devices?

Naída CI Connect may support the Dual Audio option that is available in some Bluetooth-enabled devices (e.g., certain Samsung Galaxy models). This option may enable bilateral streaming to two Naída CI Connect devices.


iOS Devices

How do I connect Naída CI Connect to my iPhone?

  1. Go to your iPhone home screen and tap on the “Settings” icon.
  2. In the settings menu, tap on the ”Bluetooth” icon.
  3. Tap on the slider button next to Bluetooth to turn Bluetooth On.
  4. Remove and attach Naída CI Connect to the PowerCel 170 battery
  5. After several seconds, Naída CI Connect will appear on the iPhone screen. Tap on it to select.
  6. You will now see a message, “Bluetooth Pairing Request”. Click “Pair”.
  7. A connection beep will be heard in your Naída CI Q90 sound processor.

How do I unpair Naída CI Connect from my iPhone?

Naída CI Connect can be paired with one device at one time. Should you wish to stop using your iPhone with Naída CI Connect, follow the steps below:

  1. From the phone home screen, tap on the “Settings” icon.
  2. From the “Settings” menu, tap on “Bluetooth”.
  3. Tap on the “i” icon next to the name of Naída CI Connect.
  4. Tap on “Forget this Device”.
  5. The pairing has now been deleted from your phone. Your Naída CI Connect will no longer receive calls from this phone.
     

To re-pair your Naída CI Connect to your iPhone:

  1. Go to your iPhone home screen and tap on the “Settings” icon.
  2. In the settings menu, tap on the ”Bluetooth” icon.

Can I hear Siri in my Naída CI Connect?

Yes. Siri is compatible with Naída CI Connect. Start Siri normally via the iPhone. As long as Naída CI Connect is connected to the phone, you can use Siri via the voice pick-up of Naída CI Connect.
 

How can I enjoy the full audio signal from my iOS device using Naída CI Connect?

In order to enjoy the full content of any audio signal, we recommend enabling the mono audio setting on your iOS device.

  1. Go to your iPhone home screen and tap on the “Settings” icon.
  2. In the settings menu, tap on the ”General” icon.
  3. Select “Accessibility”.
  4. In the “Hearing” section, turn “Mono Audio” on.
     

Tips and Tricks for iPhones to ensure easy pairing and use of Naída CI Connect

  1. Make sure the phone is updated to the latest iOS version. Go to “Settings”, then “General”, then “About”, then “Version”.
  2. If your phone call is not automatically heard in Naída CI Connect, change call audio routing on your phone. Go to “Settings”, then “General”, then “Accessibility”, then “Call Audio Routing”, then “Change to Bluetooth headset”.
  3. If you hear keyboard sounds in your Naída CI Connect, turn off audible alerts. Go to “Settings”, then “Sounds and Haptics” (iPhone 6s and higher) or “Sounds”. Scroll down and turn off “Keyboard Clicks and Lock Sounds”. Select the ring or alert tone for each option (e.g., text, voicemail, email, ringtone) and manually change each alert tone from the currently selected sound to “none” or “vibrate”.
  4. Close open apps.

Quickly press the home button (at the bottom) twice, then swipe the screen left or right to view the list of open apps. Scroll through the list of apps and hold the app and swipe it up and off the screen.

For iPhone X and newer: From the home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause near the middle of the screen until all open app cards appear. Scroll through the list of apps, hold down on the app and then tap the red minus sign.


Android Devices

How do I connect Naída CI Connect to my Android mobile device?

  1. Go to the Android phone’s home screen, and tap on the “Settings” icon.
  2. In the settings menu, tap on the Bluetooth icon.
  3. Tap on the slider button to turn Bluetooth on.
  4. Remove and attach Naída CI Connect to the PowerCel 170 battery.
  5. On the Android phone, you will now see a message, “Available Devices”.
  6. The name of your Naída CI Connect will appear on the screen with a telephone icon next to it. Tap on it to select.
  7. A connection beep will be heard in your Naída CI Q90 sound processor.

Yes. Google Now is compatible with Naída CI Connect. Start Google Now normally via the Android phone. As long as Naída CI Connect is connected to the phone, you can use Google Now via the voice pick up of Naída CI Connect.

Tips and Tricks for Android phones to ensure easy pairing and use of Naída CI Connect

  1. Turn off keypad touch sounds. Go to “Settings”, then “Sounds” and uncheck “Touch Sounds”.
  2. Close open apps. The process to do this is not the same for all Android phones. This is an example for a Samsung S8. Swipe up from the bottom. Choose the icon that looks like 2 “L”s (bottom left). Close each individual app or choose “Close All”.

Phonak TV Connector

I already own a Phonak TV Link. Why do I need a TV Connector?

Naída CI Connect uses a new wireless streaming technology that is only compatible with the new Phonak TV Connector.

The Phonak TV Link works together with the Phonak ComPilot streaming device, which acts as an interface to Naída CI Q-Series sound processors.

How do I delete all paired devices from the Phonak TV Connector?

In case you would like to unpair the Phonak TV Connector from Naída CI Connect do the following:

  1. Press the Connect button on the backside of the TV Connector for 10 seconds, until the indicator light blinks orange.
  2. The Phonak TV Connector is now unpaired from Naída CI Connect.
     

How do I know my Naída CI Connect is paired to the TV Connector?

Make sure your hearing aids are within 1 meter of the TV Connector. Then press the connect button located on the back of the Phonak TV Connector.

Within 10 seconds, you will hear a confirmation beep indicating your Naída CI Connect have successfully paired with the TV Connector.
 

How do I connect additional people to the TV connector?

The TV Connector can connect with an unlimited number of Naída CI Connect receivers. To connect a new set of Naída CI Connect receivers to the TV Connector follow these steps:

  1. Make sure Naída CI Q90 together with Naída CI Connect is switched on and within 1 meter/3 feet of the TV Connector.
  2. Press the Connect button on the back of the TV Connector until the indicator light begins rapidly blinking blue.
  3. A confirmation beep will play in the Q90 sound processor to confirm they are successfully paired with the TV Connector. This may take up to 10 seconds.
     

Why does it take so long for the Naída CI Connect to connect to the TV Connector?

Verify the television volume is not muted.

The Phonak TV Connector will enter standby mode if there is no (or very low) audio signal for 45 seconds. It can take up to 45 seconds once the audio signal returns for the TV Connector to become active from standby mode.
 

How many Naída CI Connects can one TV Connector pair with?

The Phonak TV Connector can stream audio to an unlimited number of Naída CI Connect receivers as long as they are paired to the TV Connector.
 

How far apart does the TV Connector need to be from another TV Connector?

The Phonak TV Connector can stream up to 15 meters/50 feet. Ideally, TV Connectors should be placed at least 10-15 meters apart.

How can I enjoy the full audio signal from the TV Connector?

In order to enjoy the full content of any audio signal, we recommend enabling the mono audio setting on the device that is connected to your TV Connector. For many devices, this can be done from the audio settings menu of the device.
